Remembrance

I myself got to know Devon through Errol in the  late 80s when linking up with Errol at his home  on a Friday night and our relationship just grow on from there.

I can continue to talk about the past but I would like more to mention something which happened more recently which I would like to share with lisa

As we all know Devon was very much a mans mans going out with the boys drinking with the boys that kind of thing, so last year all us boys went to a all inclusive coach trip to Ascot Ladies day which is a Boys only trip

Whilst on the coach we all boozing I can see that he starting to enjoy the trip with all the banter going on.

When we then all arrived at Ascot we then had lunch then we all went on to the races course done our bets, brilliant day brilliant day then we all headed back to the coach car park and on the arrival there’s music kicking out from our event, big sound system with plenty of free food and drink people dancing hard and enjoy themselves and Dev said something which I did not expect him to say and that was next year I would like to bring Lisa along, with that I burst out laughing said to him you know you can’t do that, it’s a boys only trip and no women or parters allowed because it’s a man bonding day he then said yeah I know, I then said to him what up Dev have you gone soft in your head because don’t you remember that the women have their girls nite out and we are not invited, he just said yeah I know.

Well months later I noticed that something was wrong and that the last event Dev and Lisa attended in the group was the all dayer on the beech at Clacton On Sea and but both of them was absent at New Year’s Eve rave at the Docklands and also pull out of St Lucia Jazz so with that I decided to called Dev and that’s when he told me he had the cancer I then said to him that I am coming round his house on my next rest day which I did and whilst sitting around the table at his home strangely enough he brought up that conversation we had when we was at Ascot in the coach Car park and said basically he knew then that his health was not good but wanted to share the next Ascot trip with Lisa.

Sadly he was never able to do so. But the end of our conversation I apologise to him and he said that it was ok because I did not know.

For me Devon will always will be in my thoughts and in my mind and he did play a part in my life and was a great buddy to me and for the rest of my days he will be greatly missed. And with this I say may your soul rest forever in peace.
